In the Memory of Cancer Victims

The goal of this project is to get people involved in World Community Grid in the fight against cancer. Participants of World Community Grid contribute part of their computer's CPUs to research, including cancer research.

You can install World Community Grid with one click. Alternatively, here you can find out how to join World Community Grid manually.

The only way for us to fight cancer is through research. World Community Grid's mission is to create the world's largest public computing grid to tackle projects that benefit humanity, including cancer research.

For example, researchers of Leishmaniasis use World Community Grid in order to find which of the millions of drug compounds might be able to disable particular proteins, essential for the parasite's survival. Screening for the best potential drug compounds is an early step in the process of developing effective treatments for the disease. With enough computing power, this screening can be done much more quickly than using conventional laboratory experiments. However, existing computer facilities available to the researchers would require approximately 120 years to perform the screening. With the power of World Community Grid and your help, we can reduce the time required to less than one year. This information is taken from here.

If you wish to add your relative or friend, who succumbed to cancer, to this page, please submit this form.

We, the relatives and friends of cancer victims, ask you to join to World Community Grid in the honour of their memory.
